It's odor is sharp, pendtrating, bitter-green, foliage-like and powerfully herbaceous with a sweet-balsamic, tenacious undertone. At the time of Arctander's writing (1960,) davana was a new oil and not much had been done with it. He does recommend blending with fougère, and chypre materials which contain oikmoss, labdanum, etc, but this has a lot to do with the color. Safety Warning As with most essential oils, dilute before using on skin. Perform a patch test before use if essential oil sensitivity is suspected. Do not take essential oils internally. Do not use on children or pets. Seek advice from a trained aromatherapist before using on people with compromised immune systems.
