Lemon myrtle is a pale yellow or yellow mobile liquid of intensely fresh lemon-like odor with a pleasant sweet-green undertone. The main constituent is citral, which is present in amounts more than 90%.
There is a long tradition of medicinal use of the herb in Australia, and is now very popular in modern Australian cuisine as a fresh herb.

This oil is non-toxic but its high citral content means there could be some issues with dermal sensitization and as an irritant.
