Arctander says
Cypress oil is a pale yellow, pale olive-greenish, or almost colorless, mobile liquid of sweet-balsamic yet refreshing odor, reminiscent of pine oil, juniper berry and cardamom ( without the cineole-note) and with a unique dryout of delicate and tenacious sweetness, often compared to that of labadanum-ambre. Perfumery use includes cistus, labdanum, lavender, mandarin, clary sage, ambrette and moroccan chamomile and as a modifier in pine and citrus fragrances.
Battaglia says
Cypress is an excellent oil fo the circulatory system, as avein decongestant, and for edema. It's also used in the reproductive system, respiratory system for some coughs and in skin care with attention to oily skin. And of course we can't forget the psychological effect for uncontrollable crying, and to restore calm.
You can use it as needed. Take care you dilute if using in the bath. There is no way to tell if you will have a skin reaction. But in the bath is great. Also, use in a foot bath, in warm compresses, inhalation, or in a massage oil or body lotion or any kind of cream or ointment. You can use cypress in a room vaporizer (diffuser) and also include in your skincare regime--in the cleanser, as a toner, or in a nice light face lotion.
