Current stock:

Cinnamonum zerylanicum

Lauraceae family

This oil is distilled in Sri Lanka.

It's not a substitute for cinnamon bark, please don't even ask. Their constituents are entirely different. Entirely.

Cinnamon leaf is more similiar to clove leaf and stem oil, (not clove bud though,) due to its high levels of eugenol.

Cinnamon

Love is like cinnamon
You put it in something you like
And it tastes so mutch better.

But cinnamon on its own
Is dry, tasteless and bitter.

But when you feel it in the air,
You can't wait to have it.

Let's have a look at what Arctander says

He's a bit dismissive, saying that originally cinnamon leaf was a clove leaf adulterant, and now (1960) the opposite is true. He describes it as a yellow to brownish yellow oil of warm-spicy, but rather harsh odor, lacking the rich body of the bark oil. It has some resemblance to the odor of clove leaf adn stem oils. The flavor is somewhat bitter, slightly pungent, irritant-burning, but very spicy and powerful.

He goes on to say that in perfumery it's used for spicy notes and warm/woody oriental types, as a modifier in spice blends, as a wwarm note in come fruit essences, in chocolate, liquor, soft drinks, candy, etc.

Battaglia says

Cinnamon leaf oil might have some uses similar to that of the bark, meaning digestive, anti-microbial, etc but he is reluctant to list it for topical use due to the intense potential for dermal irritation, and cautions agains using eithr in the bath for any reason.

Blends well with other warm spicy oils to give greater depth and variety to blends. For example, cardamom, cinnamon bark, nutmeg, vanilla, ylang ylang
