Cilantro Essential Oil

This is exactly what it seems. Aromatherapy, in digestive blends; in perfume, it's up to you. It's really an amazing and assertive oil

Product Description

Coriandrum satvium

Organically grown and distilled in Egypt.

Technicolor cilantro, close up, magnificent and in terrifying detail! If you ever wanted to explore this captivating, distinctive herb, then this is your opportunity! This oil is absolutely ridiculous.

Cilantro is a complete mystery--it's the original love it or hate it taste/smell/flavor. Seems like there's quite a few people out there who just freak out at the thought of it! Yet others are mavens, even aficionados!

Cloth of Cilantro

I'm taking up the pearls of cloth one more time.
I'm doing it without any losses, for a change.
I'm starting with the cloth of cilantro,
starting with the stain of it on my fingers,
the ripe smell of its unfurled part
moistening the edges of my nails.
I need the most mute processes now,
I need the pile of dirt that does not glow
with anything.
I'm starting with the fragrant underground,
and the sucked-out skin of the green rims
that dropped off there.
I take up the young cilantro so much like pearl
where the pearl is floral, and so much like leaf
where the leaf is secreted within
my human cells. You can keep your garden.
I take up the branch that lives in two atmospheres,
and I let it do with me what it wants.

By Doren Robbins

Arctander is quite dismissive of this herb, preferring to discuss the essential oil from the seed, meaning, coriander. He says it's "interesting"for perfumery, because of its powerful and intertesting odor but it consists primarily of decyl-aldehyde, which is now easily produced synthetically. Humph to that, I say. And his focus seems to be on cutting the seed oil with the leaf oil. Usually Arctander has it more together than this entry would dictate.

Battaglia continues in this vein, mentioning it as an "also there is this esential oil steam distilled from the leaves, etc." So not much help from either of these guys.

Bottom line with cilantro: if you like it, consider it, at least for cooking, where you could use it very sparingly, and also maybe for startling green notes in perfumery. If you don't like the herb, you won't like the essential oil, so just keep moving along.

Blend it with what you dare.
