This is a large, wild, aquatic floral. She lives in ponds and rises gracefully about the mud and chaos of pond life and struggle.
Lotus is traditionally associated with purity of spirit and devotion. The white lotus in particular also has an affinity with learning, wisdom. Indian traditions associate her with the goddess Sarawati, and is one of the symbols of the goddess, along with books and the Saraswati River.
This magnificent flower's scent mirrors her appearance, clean and fresh, glorious and divine. Lotus is often used as a metaphor for aspiring souls to rise above earthly concerns and connecting to the divine.
Lotus have been adored and admired through millennia, from ancient Egypt, to the ancient civilizations of China, Korea, SE Asia and the near east, Including India and environs, modern Iran, etc.
In times like these, what better symbol to breathe and try to stay calm, above the fray?
