Rosa damascena, variety Alba
Distilling plants gives you two products: essential oil and hydrosol. Hydrosol contains the water soluble micro-particles. Hydrosols are aromatic and active. They are great for skincare. They mix easily with water, they're milder, for babies and sensitive skin. They're used in flavoring, and not so strong as essential oils. A more subtle approach to aromatherapy. As a toner, use after cleansing, and before moisturizing.
Hydrosols are fantastic coolers during the summer months. You can keep them in the refrigerator if you like, and mist your face when you come in from a hot and annoying day in the city. Take them to the gym. Mist some on after your run, or bike ride, paddle sport, or hike. Rose is always welcome, always a delightful and appropriate choice.
Our white rose hydrosol is distilled in France from certified organic white roses, Rosa damescena, variety alba.
What is the difference between the pink and white rose hydrosols? Other than a slight scent different, and perhaps the white having more of a cooling aspect, I really can't say.
I don't know of any reputable studies of the chemical compositions, analysis and comparisons of these two hydrosols. We don't always have the white rose, since the crop is much smaller.
