Piñon Pine - Pinus edulis - Wildcrafted & distilled in the U.S.

This is a very special oil that we've acquired a small amount of - (The trees) range is in Colorado, southern Wyoming, eastern and central Utah, northern Arizona, New Mexico, western Oklahoma, southeastern California, and the Guadalupe Mountains in far western Texas. It is widespread and often abundant in this region, forming extensive open woodlands, usually mixed with junipers in the pinyon-juniper woodland plant community.(National Wildlife Federation Field Guide to Trees of North America)

This pine oil reminds us more of a fir oil with it's fruity aspects - sweet ambery, balsamic, coniferous, woody, somewhat resinous, with pine-and fruity secondary notes; has a soft resinous drydown. There is a creamy or lactonic nuance unlike any other conifer oil that makes it very unique.

In the higher boiling fractions, chemists have been able to identify ethyl caprylate, a compound responsible for the characteristic fruity fragrance of Piñon Pine. (The Encyclopedia of Essential Oils, Julia Lawless)

Essential oil can be extracted from the trunk, limbs, needles, and seed cones.
