This is truly a superstar oil. Helichrysum is well known for its spectacular uses for wound healing etc and it’s beguiling, unmistakable honey-like scent.

The yield is quite low, with a ton of flowers producing about a kilo of essential oil

This is the essential oil:

Helichrysum angustifolium (now italicum) is a pale yellow, oily liquid of powerful and diffusive but pleasant and rich natural odor. The top note as certain features in common with those of everlasting absolute but then goes on to say that those topnotes are “not exactly attractive” at high concentration! The sweetness is so rich and overwhelming , honey-like and deep, that it takes more than the average imagination to appreciate the odor of this oil. However, the sweet-fruity, and tea-like, delicate undertone is unique, and the tenacity is quite outstanding. Phew!

He goes on to say it blends well with boronia, chamomile, citruses, geranium, ionones, labdanum, lavender, neroli, mimosa, oakmoss, orris, clary sage, etc.
