Sweet, delightful and delicious, this is our wonderful gardenia oil, made from a modern enfleurage process, using certified organic palm oil, in Colombia, South America. This is not an solvent extraction, but the true essence of the flower herself. This oil is perfectly delicate and delightful. Our enfleurage process does not use any animal fat.

Arctander writes a lot about Gardenia concretes from “many years ago”, on La Réunion, Sri Lanka, Grasse, etc, but none of them seem to have worked out. Rather than this being gardenias “limited use in perfumery” I think it reveals the quality of these extractions. Gardenia will not give up her scent lightly and I think that the big “mushroom” note is key—without it your oil is just a flower without a characteristic mushroom note. Our Gardenia enfleurage was highly reviewed by Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez in their A-Z guide (2008) and its “mushroom hologram” was well noted.

Basically, this oil is for gardenia lovers, and other scent mavens. No idea what this exquisite oil "does" but it's beautiful and unusual and perfect gardenia, so if you are a perfumer, or just love gardenias, this is the oil for you.

Gardenias saturate the night,
clothed in their array of lovely white.
