Frankincense and Myrrh (Co-distilled) Essential Oil

Truly unusual--we might be the only people producing this oil. It's a mix of resins, soaking and then being in the still together, with the additions of copper and fire, this is a powerful oil.

Product Information

Boswellia sacra--wild Oman & Commiphora myrrha--wild Somalia

This is a co-distillation of equal parts Omani Frankincense and Somali Myrrh from our own distillery in Muscat, Oman, and is made using our well-known, slow hydro-distillation in copper.

Frankincense and Myrrh are both gum-oleoresins, tree exudates from the same general area of the world, and they go hand in hand for skincare, relaxation, and meditative properties.

Practically speaking, this co-distillation is logical for another reason. While frankincense is happy and separates easily from the hydrosol during distillation, myrrh has no such habits.

Myrrh weighs about the same as water, so separation of myrrh from his hydrosol is difficult and tedious. But he happily binds to his friend, frankincense, and is then lifted away from the water particles, to float on top, as frankincense does naturally. Since frankincense has a higher yield than myrrh, there is more frankincense oil, and his separation preferences dominate. Myrrh rides along, full and intact and happy, making this essential oil an exquisite and delicious blend of humming energy, buzz, and ancient sensory delight.

This oil is great added to any skincare or bathing product, diffused in a room, or used on pulse points or chakras.

The scent has a sweet frankincense body, but also run through with myrrh's bitter sharply balsamic and faintly medicinal ribbons running through it. Neither Arctander nor Battaglia has any entry for this as it's a co-distilled oil, not mixed as a blend. One could surmise the uses and advantages, but you are on your own with this beautiful, unique oil, slow-aroma distileld in Muscat, Oman.
