Roman Chamomile Essential oil

Fresh, happy, gentle and relaxing, this oil is at home in aromatherapy style blends and also in perfumery. It has a place as a flavor, too, although usually the herb is used in infusion. But the essential oil will work as well

Product Description

Anthemis nobilis

Grown and distilled in England

This is a beautiful oil--it is generally considered safe to use for everyone, and it is best known for its fresh apple scent, which many people find is distinctive, comforting and relaxing.  Chamomile is safe to use for everyone, even small children.

Chamomile

Chamomile's my drug of choice,
you can have your coffee beans.
Just give me some relaxing tea;
I'll tell you what it means.

A savory cup will start my day
or help me sleep at night.
I ever keep a cup near me
and always within sight.

Nothing soothes my aching pains
like a calming brew.
Google it upon the web
and you will see it's true.

by Terry Hoffman

Arctander notes the following:

Roman Chamomile is a pale blue, mobile liquid (when fairly fresh)  of sweet, herbaceous, somewhat fruity-warm, and tealeaf-like odor. The odor is extremely diffusive but has little tenacity. The flavor is somewhat bitter, but also fruity-herbaceous.

He says Roman Chamomile is not used too much in flavors but more often than the German in fine perfumery, where its sparing use imparts a warm yet fresh note and a natural depth which is difficult to obtain by other means He recommends blending it with bergamot, jasmine, labdanum, neroli, clary sage, oakmoss. He says the pale blue (due to presence of the ester Chamazulene) will fade with time but the odor of the oil does not change even if the color does.

Battaglia says

There are many studies on Roman Chamomile. It's indicated in aromatherapy for anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anxiolytic activity and for dementia. It's also one of the gentlest esstnail oils and can be used in blends for children. There's also we recognized uses for the digestive, nervous, reproductive and respiratory system, as well as skincare. There's a lot of information on this oil, and this book, The Complete Guide to Aromatheapy, can be found here
